Pilates

Pilates was developed by Joseph H Pilates (1880-1967) almost a century ago. The Pilates method is designed to strengthen core stomach and back muscles, improve spinal flexibility and improve movement patterns in the body. Emphasis is placed on correct breathing and posture so that all movements occur from a stable base.

Pilates is an effective way to strengthen the body after any injury. It addresses weaknesses and imbalances in the body that often are a cause and/or a result of injury. This can be from poor work related posture, trauma, stress, pre or post pregnancy changes, sports or dance injuries, repetitive strain injuries or back pain

Osteopathy and Pilates work well together. Pilates exercises not only speed up the recovery process but also encourage the patient to take an active role in their own healing.
